the pregnancy status of cows and heifers. Depending on the level
of skill achieved it may also be possible to determine the stage
of pregnancy
Do
I need to have had a lot experience with cattle to do the course?
People who have participated in previous courses range from
those with just a few cows to large scale producers.
How
is the course structured?
The course is conducted at venues across the state using commercial
facilities and the cattle of cooperating beef and dairy producers.
Usually over 100 cows are made available for training purposes
with the major emphasis being placed on practical instruction.
Group sizes are limited to no more than 8 to ensure plenty of
practice. The first morning of the course is spent discussing
anatomy, physiology and the technique of rectal palpation.
